What is Call of Duty?

Years go, times are changing, but one thing remains constant – Call of Duty. Yes, we can talk about the quality of specific games for a long time, but nevertheless, the franchise is still on the go and is still popular. But she for a minute, imagine, very soon she will hit 20 years.

For all this time, “we” participated in different military conflicts and saved the world several times. The last decade was dedicated to the wars of modernity and the future, both nearest and distant, and there were only two games about the second world – WWII and Vanguard .

Eh, before everything was completely different … We can say that the setting of the Second World War just made Call of Duty known in wide circles.

What was the key to success? Everything is very simple: pseudoralism, cinematography, variety of gaming and non -game situations.

Unlike the science fiction shooters a la Half-Life, Doom or Quake, Medal of Honor (everything began with her) and Call of Duty looked “more natural”. You understand, getting used to the role of a soldier of the Soviet Army is much easier than in a silent scientist.

An additional factor that popularized the games on the theme of VMV was military films of those years as foreign – “Save the ordinary Ryan” and “Enemy at the Gate”, and domestic, such as “saboteur”.

For a long time everything was good and successful, but at some point the players began to get tired of the setting. One of the largest mysteries in my childhood was “why, after Call of Duty 2, a fourth part came out at once” … and none of my surroundings knew the answer. So what is the game offering us? And she offers us a fairly standard menu for Call of Duty of those years in the form of several campaigns, but with some delights – instead of Soviet, Canadian and Polish are represented. A very correct solution, in my opinion, is in this way something is introduced at least partially new into the setting already familiar to all of us.
